Quilty House

Meg Quilty

Escape to a bygone era, when you step inside the 'A Brush with Quilty' studio, which is part of a charming, historic, federation home, in beautiful leafy East Tamworth. If the walls could speak they would have many a tale to tell.

'A Brush with Quilty' studio is a part of 'Quilty House', where I paint as well as hold regular watercolour classes, workshops and teach privately.

Once a Presbyterian home for 96 boys who‘s ages ranged between six and eighteen, 'Quilty House' is now a luxurious Bed and Breakfast with a modern twist on the breakfast side of things. Built around 1889 by Charles Jeffries Britten and his wife Annie, 'Quilty House‘ was was originally called ‘Avondale’. It was later known as ‘Beethovens’ and has been operating as a Bed and Breakfast on and off ever since. It was recently renamed ‘Quilty House‘ in 2018 and is once again welcoming guests.

BAMM: Bank Art Museum Moree

BAMM
Bank Art Museum Moree

BAMM is a regional art museum with a difference. Situated in a town of less than 10,000 people, our exhibition program offers visitors the chance to engage with the best contemporary Australian art without travelling to larger metropolitan centres. Our publicly owned collection is one of Moree’s most important cultural assets and a wonderful attraction for the hundreds of thousands of tourists
that visit our town every year.

BAMM is a regional art museum offering opportunities for audiences to experience diverse contemporary arts practices. Established in 1988 with a Bicentennial grant from the Department of Aboriginal Affairs, BAMM grew from a groundswell of support for a cultural landmark to bring Moree’s community together in the spirit of reconciliation. Today we hold the one of the most significant collections of Aboriginal paintings in regional NSW and offer an invitational Kamilaroi Artist Residency. The collection features works by internationally recognised Australian artists as well as those working in North West NSW. BAMM’s annual program features a changing schedule of exhibitions, including national touring shows and semi-permanent collection displays.

We continue to be supported by an active cultural community known as Friends of BAMM. Membership benefits include invitations to exhibition openings, free entry to our monthly Art After Dark events, as well as 25% off art classes and venue hire. Our education activities include exhibition and back of house tours, artist and curator talks, and art classes for all ages.
